Helping people find their voice since day one

Speak Up Drama was founded on a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel heard.

From the classroom to the stage, we’ve seen how the right support can unlock confidence, creativity, and self-expression. That’s why we create spaces where you can explore, imagine, and grow — building the skills and self-belief to find your voice and use it with confidence in every area of life.

Meet Teri, the founder

Teri trained as a professional actress at Arts Educational Schools London, performing on some of the UK’s most renowned stages including the National Theatre and Theatre Royal Haymarket, as well as appearing on screen with the BBC, Netflix, and Channel 5. But the most powerful gift drama gave her wasn’t a role — it was confidence and a voice. That became clear years later at the Houses of Parliament, when she watched a young man step forward to speak and completely freeze in silence, despite having so much to say. In that moment, Teri realised drama could do more than entertain — it could empower people of all ages to find their voice.

With that vision, she founded Speak Up, which now works with schools, communities, and individuals across the UK. Her mission is to create spaces where everyone — from children to adults — can discover the power of self-expression, and her ambition is bold: to see Speak Up grow nationally and internationally, inspiring people everywhere to step into their confidence and shine.

What people say about us

Best thing I did was enrol my children to Speak Up Drama Club. I 100 recommended it. It’s so wonderful seeing both children grow in confidence, embrace their natural talents and ooze confidence express themselves articulately when public speaking. I say it all the time but it’s cause I can see how much you’ve contributed to my children’s self confidence. THANKS SPEAK UP!

Claremont high academy trust was lucky enough to have Speak Up drama workshop in. This was with our drama students for yrs 10 and 6th form. The workshop was well delivered and received. Our students all commented on how good it was and that they would like the workshop to return as they felt they learnt new skills and learnt new things about themselves. As for myself and the drama teachers we do intend to invite Speak Up back. It’s was great watching how she connected with these young people.
