Schools
We pride ourselves on delivering our highly popular drama club and drama workshops across schools in the UK! We make sure it’s a fun, safe and supportive environment that inspires children to be creative, build confidence and enable their personalities to shine. Building confidence is a process and we know participating in the arts boosts children’s well-being.
Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced and work professionally in the Performing Arts Industry. This enables us to produce high-quality lessons for our students. All our teachers are DBS checked regularly.
Primary School Workshops
Speak Up works with both infant and junior primary schools. Introducing drama through a fabulous range of techniques. Such as role-play, devising short plays, improvising, exploring physicality through space, imaginative games, and much more…
Speak Up provides its popular drama club working on a termly basis. In the term we will devise a performance that we'll have several weeks to rehearse; this gives the children the confidence to perform in front of an audience and invite parents and staff along to watch. Speak Up also supports teachers when guiding their students through Shakespearean text, by focusing on a play and making it into a ‘bitesize’ version which allows the children to understand and engage with the text in a fun-filled way.
Secondary School Drama Workshops
Speak Up works with all years throughout secondary school. Introducing a safe space where students can share their ideas in a constructive and fun-filled environment. Which then allows the students to build their confidence and self-esteem. Speak Up also supports teachers when guiding their students through Shakespearean text, by focusing on a play and making it into a ‘bitesize’ version which allows the children to understand and engage with the text in a fun-filled way.
Some other skills we explore are:
• Performance Skills
• Approaching the script
• Exploring your physicality
• Using your voice properly
We believe when exploring different forms of drama techniques, we have the chance to express ourselves in different ways we did not know possible. Having these skills can prepare the students for job opportunities and it really builds their confidence when public speaking.
